I grafted a Gibbon extension to an Outlaw dash, and it was a lot of work. I probably could have done one from scratch just as easily and a whole lot cheaper. Get some 1/8 inch foam core board from an art supply store and use it to build the template. Then do what Dave said. I like the foam core for relatively flat pieces because of it rigidity.
