Gen II LT-1 in Highboy ... Anyone? Pics?

Hi Guys ...

I've been pondering taking my 383 LT1 from my '95 Z28 (along with the wiring harness and PCM) and using it for the motor in a highboy project and then build a more aggresive package for the '95 Z ... This motor dynoed 405 rwhp & 428 rwtq SAE in the camaro, so it should be very fun in a highboy ...

I'd like to leave the motor fuel injected but I'm not sure how this would look in the highboy ... I know there are different intake manifolds, carbs, valve covers, etc... for these engines, but I'd like to stay FI if it would look cool ... I'm also curious about headers, and any other mods needed for the swap ...

Anyone made this transformation? Any pics, etc...

I have not done this myself, but I have seen LT-1/LT-4 engines in '32's before and they looked pretty slick. Check with Street and Performance which sells a lot of these engines. I think block hugger headers will work and you should be able to run all of the computer stuff inside the firewall so it look neat under the hood. I would keep the FI.

Done that and it works great. It looks great too. With a three piece hood you open it up for a very clean look. The lighter weight of the lt1 with the aluminum heads is good. There are a lot of places that make block hugger for lt1, and you'll have to put o2's sensors in you exhaust. Your need to order you radiator for an lt1 because of the extra coolant hole in the top. For that car I altered the original harness and reprogramed the ecm. On another lt1 car I'm working on now I'm using a Detail Zone harness which doesn't require the ecu to be reprogramed. Haven't started it yet, so don't know how well it works. Good luck.

Sorry, Car long gone, went to New York! Was lt1, six speed, jag rear, heidts pinched nose front. Motor had chevy hot cam package and 30 over. I put a 4:10 posi in the jag and narrowed it 2.5 inches per side. Fun little car to drive. Have a new one in progress with 502 bbc and an automatic with many body alterations. Car done but needs interior, waiting! Also got a 54 chevy wagon (lt1) and 34 ford cad (426 hemi) in progress. Hope to start a 69 pro touring camaro next spring with zo6 power but limit myself to two things at a time. Good luck!!!
