Thread: Custom Fit Car Cover for a 32 hi-boy?

Do any of you have custom fit covers for your roadsters? I want to get one that fits the car with the bop top in place, and something that actually "fits" the car, rather than the 69 camaro cover I use now that of course doesn't even "sorta" fit. The only place i ever see advertised is California Car Cover, but was wondering if there are any other options, and what you guys have as far as fabric/materials for the cover itself, as there are dozens of options there too. Pics would be great, but any advice would be helpful... I'm planning on using it mainly to cover the car up at night at shows, and to try to keep the rain out of it if a sudden downpour occurs, so water resistance is my main concern, but I also don't want something that's gonna scratch my black paint. Another thought I had was a cover that just went over the cockpit area, but the ones I see in the Ca Car Cover catalog look to be for use WITHOUT a top, I'm wondering if they could make one that would go over the bop top to keep rain out of the sides while the car is sitting in the rain at a show? That way the car would still be viewable, but the interior wouldn't get soaked. Anyone ever see or hear of such a thing? ( I know I should probably just get some side curtains, but I'm just looking for something to keep the interior dry when parked.)

Google "California Car Covers." They have a data sheet that you can fill out for a custom cover. They also might have a sheet on file for your applciation.

I have a custom fit California Car Cover "Superweave" cover for my rpu and I really like it, sheds water like a duck and fits great.

It doesn't have a terry inner layer so it is very light and doesn't seem to scratch the paint.

Go to their web site or get a catalog and it will tell you how to measure your car for a custom fit. If you are at a show where they have a booth, they will measure your car there. They did mine at the Goodguys Del Mar show.

Another VOTE for California Car cover ...

I have two ... one for the 32 Roadster and one for the 32 3W coupe.

Cost a little more maybe but well worth it in the long run.
I picked my 32 Roadster cover up at the California store ... years ago when I was in Los Angeles for the LA Roadster event ... Got a tour of the place too ... the owner has a BAD ... NHRA Hemi Cuda ... runs on or holds the record at the time ...

I just went to their site and they don't even allow you to select a 32 for a pattern... 28, 29, 30 and 31 Model A, but no Deuce... You say its worth the extra money, what other companies even MAKE a cover for a 32 ford, as I can't even find another. I guess I'll have to call the tech line and see if I can get some guidance there, I aint afraid to spend money, but I want it to fit right.

When I go to the Nationals I see other cover makers there ... But I do not remember their names ... I have the covers I need. My covers fit like a glove ... off the shelf ...

California Car Covers has most likely made thousands of 32 Ford covers ...

Another vote for CCC, got one for the '36 roadster that fits great. All they wanted to know was how much of a chop it had and they already had patterned so no measuring necessary.

One comment on the no scratch thing. Regardless of the interior being lined or not, soft or not, it really comes down to how you handle it that makes the difference. If you cover with dirt on the paint, it'll scratch. If you allow poor handling or poor storage of the cover when removed and it picks up dirt, it'll scratch.

Now, looking at how much of a psycho you are at keeping your garage, you likely won't have problems with clean.................

Another vote here for California Car Cover. I'm on my third car and very satisfied. I buy them at their Pomona Swap Meet booth. Since your out of town I would call them and tell them EXACTLY what you have on your car and they will build you one that fits. Brand of top or no top, one or two outside rear view mirrors, fenders or not, type of windshield and height (chopped), bumpers or not, they need to know everything to get you the right fit. Also they will be able to advise you on the best material for your needs.

Just outta curiosity, what kinda money can I expect to pay for a custom fit cover? I'm thinking Evolution 4 material right now.

Joey, in their latest catalog, the stormweave (evolution) cover is priced from 159.99.
I would call them (1-800-423-5525). I don't think you will actually need a custom made cover, I bet they have standard covers for deuce highboy, hiboy, or hi-boy roadsters with bop tops.

Here is another vote for ccc. I have a full fendered 32 with a bop top and the cover fits like a glove. I also have the interior only cover , which works well, but only without the top. I have the chavers side curtains , for when it really gets bad. The money you have invested in your rod, dont skimp on protection for it. Happy rodding
