I've always been more of a muscle car kind of guy. I just finished a build on a 67 Chevy pickup. It's fast and sweet! That's not why I'm here. My wife has been wanting a convertible. I don't like the new cars, and was able to talk her into building her a car. She likes the Deuce as long as it has fenders, rag top, and yes, A/C. I like a car that handles like it's on a rail, so I want IFS. I've been looking for pics. I want to see how the a/c installation looks, and possibly the ifs suspension. If we go forward from there, I'll have lots more questions.

My life long friends son in Tn.just finished a 32 roadster.He calls it WARHAWK.It was featured in the Apr. issue of Street Rod Builder.I just finished my 34 cpe. and I used Hot Rod Air A/C.You can check it out on www.myspace.com/mylil34 . I used the Heidt's IFS.

Welcome to the forum. Problem you are going to have is that '32 Fords do not have roll up windows, at least none I am familiar with. They use side curtains, and mostly the tops are either up or off. Some of the more experienced '32 guys on here, like Deuce and others, may have information as to how to accomplish what you want to do though. I noticed an airconditioning setup under the dash of one of the cars Deuce posted, not sure if that was on a closed car or not.

Good luck, at least you've crossed the biggest hurdle......talking her into it.

True Roadsters ... do not have windows ...

But there is a after market solution.

The above folks make a steel body that looks similar to a original Deuce roadster but has roll up windows.



They also have a fiberglass version for less $$$

There have been several glass deuce manufacturers that had installed power door glass in their cars. Problem is I'm not sure if they are still around. Maybe you can get her to like a nice 37 Ford ragtop.

Deuce, I like the steel body. Wish I had $25K laying around to go that route. I appreciate all the feed back. We're weighing the options. She likes the 37 OK, I'm not crazy about it. I like the Willys. I have to remember it will be her car.

Hi Darrell. Welcome to HRC. I currently building a Brookville 30 Model A roadster with a LS6 454 roller motor. I just finished installing a Vintage Air Gen II super cooler which tucked up nicely under the cowl. The super cooler is the large unit usually run in sedans which has 4 separate vents for air conditioning & heat. So I'll get as much cool air moving over me as possible when I have my soft top on. No windows or side curtains. My roadster has all steel fenders with the rear fenders fabricated to cover Hoosier Pro street radials 29 x 15.5 x 15 and surprisingly enough don't look bad for being somewhat wider. Good luck with your build and remember it's the wife's vehicle so when shes happy everything is peaceful! Hope you end up with the roadster she will love and enjoy driving too.

Check with Downs Mfg.--I think they have copied the '32 convertible in fiberglass--much less expensive than the steel ones.
