buying brookville 32 roadster

if you purchased a 32 brookville please share your experience , so far i heard have them leave primer off the body it is cheap stuff, resolting in hours of stripping the paint off . this thread is for me to know what to be aware of if anything ...so far they seem like really nice people who are their to help . please include when you post what year you purchased your car body ...this thread is also for the good things brookville can provide as well , this isnt a thread for mutialation of a company ...

Bought a 30-31 A roadster body in 2000.

About 50% down, 4 months later when it was ready to ship, the remainder was paid.

Use your credit card so you have some recourse if something happens along the way.

The trucking company likes to deliver to commercial addresses so if you have a friend who owns business, have it delivered there.

Mine was delivered to my house and the trucking company was supposed to have a lift gate, but didn't.

We went four miles to my pal's muffler shop and two of us slid the crate off the truck onto the muff shop lift.

I ran back home, hooked up my 6' x 10' utility trailer with drop ramp, went back to the shop and two of us slid the crate into the trailer.

The muff shop ramp sure made life easy with both the tall truck trailer and my much lower utility trailer.

Once home, I used an old sailboat block and tackle to pull the crate as far off the trailer as I could and once it was started downhill, doing the rest by myself was easy.

Delivering to a business can save a few bucks on freight.
I did that with the re-pro 32 frame rails.
Left my pal a couple hundred in cash, he paid the freight and gave me the change.

Be sure and inspect the body for shipping damage as soon as you can.

I had a couple of dings and after a few phone calls, the trucking company sent a check for repairs.

I'm guessing the bodies are seldom damaged, but someone at Brookville forgot to put bolts in a couple of the wooden crate locations and the body shifted in transit.

I picked up my Brookville body this past August. When I ordered the body it was my understanding that the primer is meant to be a rust preventer and not a base for paint. I plan on removing the primer when I start the body work. This has worked out well for me as I am still working on a current project and the body is sitting on its frame in the corner of my shop and I am not concerned about oxidation. In my case if it did not have the coat of primer I suspect I would have that nasty brown oxidation starting.

If you plan on doing the body work as soon as you get the body I would probably not have it primed.

On the primer, order without, then when it arrives, do your choice of metal prep, and epoxy primer the body as soon as you get it. Epoxy adheres to bare metal well, and is the preferred primer to do body work on top off. If you need to weld, to sand the primer back in that area and go to it.

anyone have info on how well the body looks ? wavy , dings , correct shape ? far as primer im telling them not to prime except i told them i wanted them to use my choice of black epoxy primer between the trunk skins since i have a punched louvered deck lid and im painting the car black ....it will work out great . im very excited to recieve my body and again im just fishing for helpfull info .. also im picking up the body at york pa show ...

yup the glass body is leaving this friday . worked outwell the same guy is providing me with my winters quickchange ..
