My first encounter with the Highway Patrol

Well I was cruising back from a hotrod book signing saturday morning, minding my own business and behaving (no burn outs or anything) when I noticed a cop had changed lanes and placed himself right behind me... Took a deep breath and hoped for the best...

15 blocks later he is still there... right on my tail... The traffic light turns red so I stopped and he pulls over in the turning lane right next to me and lowered his window.... and I think to myself

"RATS - here we go... My first ticket??"

Not at all, he actually started asking me many questions about the car and finally broke down and asked if I was willing to pull over to show it to him. I replied "Yes, but only if you are willing to let me film it"

So we had a deal.

I now have official footage of a cop sitting at the wheel of my hotrod :LOL: ... Might be worth some money?? :LOL:

After about 10 minutes, I was released from "custody" and free to go back to my editing the short film nightmare... With a new good few minutes of footage hehe... Whatever works...

Gee Why couldn't there be any lady cops arond when I was younger. :rolleyes:

Back in IL. I had the samething happen one day on my way to work. I was in my 68 Camaro when I noticed lights in my mirror. I looked at my speed that was OK I couldn't figure out what I had done. I pulled over and he asked me to get out. Man I was sh !7ing bricks. He said nice car mind if I look it over. I looked at him and told him he could take it for a ride if he wanted to. He said he couldn't leave the squad car unatended.:eek: Like I was going to take it for a ride(NOT). But a few days later he pulled in my drive in his own car and we went for a ride with him driveing. He didn't live far from my place and he was building a Nova. :LOL: :LOL: :LOL:

9 times out of 10, when a cop pulls in behind me, he wants some money in exchange for a slip of paper.:CRY: Have had them give me a thumbs up along side, which is okay. But from behind, I don't get no thumbs up.....only misery.:(

I couldn't get out of a ticket in my Camaro with a car guy cop when I got pulled over on my birthday. As cool as it would be to have a cop pull me over just to look at my car I'll pass....I have a heart attack everytime I see a cop so I don't want the added stress unless I'm actually getting a ticket :LOL:

my cars are lould but they do not give me much trouble and they know who i am ? . i had one cop roll up beside of me at a light and say hey thats a bit lould? oh $hit i said no its not bad ? he said you want to go at the light ? sure you bet and he spin the tire off the cop car. i did not run him just watch. i have did some bad things and they will get you some times .but they can do there job i not planing to change for them

Thats really odd because when I get pulled over they just tell me to press hard 3 copies!:LOL: :LOL:

When I was pulling my car home from Florida after I purchased it we had stopped in Georgia to get some fuel and a trooper pulled up and asked if he could look at the car. I replied back to him while smiling, "it wouldn't be very smart of me to tell you no would it?"......LOL! He got out and was very nice, and talked to us for several minutes.

At home, due to my job, I know about 99% of the officers in the entire county that I live in. A few of them have muscle cars, and a retired officer has a rod painted black and white just like a cop car. So I don't get nervous at all when one falls in behind me, I usually gas it...LOL!

Didn't he ask where the fenders (mudguards) are? That usually the response we get over here in the UK. Most of the time they let us go with a caution of some type. The worst case scenario would be them deeming you car illegal and dangerous order you off the road. Never had a copper show any interest in my roadster. 'Holier than thou' is usually their attitude.

one thing to add don .is never tell them how fast you were going or how fast you could go .they have pull me over when they caught me slowing down . i wanted to tell one that . they got me. four cop cars in the parts store parking lot looking at my gto .told the parts guy they like my car the cop was trying to tell me how to drive it i wanted to tell him he did not see any thing .ask him if his cop car would run in the 10s

I have actually said both of these to my police friends when I see them....LOL!

i have been pulled over just this summer. i didnt even see him around anywhere i was at stop light and when shit went green i went like H#!! so my tires broke loose a lil bit so i let off they prolly didnt even spin 6" but i got a reckless ticket. so when i got to the county building for my arraingment the prosecuter was very nice looking so i flurted i lil bit and she knocked down to a careless ticket. but i dont really under stand why breaking loose is a reckless though not like i was burning them for 200yrds or more or drag racing.

You guys are talking as if every cop is out to get everyone. Just because someone is a cop doesn't mean that, they are all just like us and some like ricers, some like hot rods and bikes. My friends that are cops here in the city are all into hot rods and have a few themselves and are VERY cool. When I go by a cop or something I don't act all freaked out and NOT look at them or nothing, it doesn't bother me. They always stop me at the gas station and look at my 66 F100 all the time and they always say "man if only there were more of these old trucks and cars on the road". If I were a cop then I'd do the same thing because normally say that you not a cop and just driving around and you see a sweet hot rod. You can lay on your horn and stop them to look at it but if your a cop, just pull them over and check it out and hope they aren't pissed because you made them late for something.

all i have to say is WOW lol. my buddy here had this sunfire and he thought he was invisible with his stock 4 banger, he went 110 or so in a 55 and got a 400 dollar ticket and his license got suspended. haha i just couldnt help but laugh my ass off at him

i have had some encounters that i got very lucky with but for some reason when it happens to me it isnt funny:eek: . but when it happens to other people i know i laugh at them

Every damn place you go in Barrie now has a friggin school ---and the speed zone in front of the schools is 40KM/h (25 MPH). I got a ticket about 6 months ago for 55 in a 40 zone. I might have talked my way out of that one, but I was so seriously p&$ssed off that I told the cop "What the Hell's the matter with the stupid kids---they should stay off the road. Jeez, when I was a kid I walked a mile up a highway where the speed limit was 120 km/h and I never got ran over. My dad told me to stay out of the middle of the damned road!!!"---Cop wasn't buying it though---I still got the ticket.

Brian when you were a kid if you walked in the street you were concious of the fact YOU were in the road. Todays kids don't & don't care. They have no sence of right or wrong. When you or I screwed up the old man would bust your butt and that would be it. Today the old man can't bust the kids but or he can be up on child ABUSE charges. I realy beleave all the do gooders are the ones that should be up on child abuse charges as they are F**^%$g up the next generation.

We take my freinds Chevell to buy a lottery ticket each week. Passed a couple of cops looking hard at us but no hassel as we are older and were not going to fast, on the way back the cops stopped us to look at the car and said we probably should take the wheelie bars off. :eek: We forgot they were on as it was late getting back the night before and we backed the car in.:LOL:

my last court date was a few years back . I was going to work one morn and a fellow worker in a probe was going to pass on the right. I was driving a 99 150 with a chip so needless to say i pushed it down . We hit about 100 (in a 45) but open road. I hit the binders slowing to our turn was coming up and a cop was coming toward us. Him still on the side was never seen . I hit the pedal one mile to work and got stuck at the gate when she (woman cop) caught me. She said didnt you see me i said no i wasn't looking behind . In court first cases we dismissed for officers weren't in court, When she called me up judge says to whoever it was get the officer in here now. Well the long wait resulted in a 77 in a 45 zone and a $105 ticket and one year supervision. Was glad turn was coming up or she would have made the grade that morn .

I'm running a Superchip Program in my 04 truck now .

You shouldn't be doing 100 MPH because a piece of crap probe was passing you. No need to show that you are faster than him, should have let him pass and go on and get caught by himself.

When I was about 16 the county had freshly paved a section of hi-way.
Well my friends dad was a local contractor and us kids that night took a rolling tape and rolled it from a truck and marked off 1/4 mile.
We painted the square just like you see on the hi-way you know the ones that the "bear in the air " can check your speed with and then radio down to a guy in a car to then pull you over.
We thought we where very clever.
Later that night we went back and there was a whole group of cars and it was being busted by some State Troppers.
We went back home and got a differnt car the old junk Chevette.
More than a half hour went by and the troppers where still giving out tickets.
No one raced there for at least a month.
I also would like to say I don't condone street racing of any type or kind.

Mr. Fisher I couldnt agree more this is one of my favorite soap boxes to stand on. The thing is I got bum knee right now and it's an awfull taaaalllll box. So I guess that I will spare the sermon I imagine being sunday some have already heard on for today.
And hey erik in the great (greaty begrudged) comonwealth of virginia they used to impound your car and you didnt go and just pick it up. Well you could after you won the bid on it at a open public auction. Yep they used to configate your ride and then auction it off and if you didnt out bid the other guy tuff luck. and they also gave you the ticket and depending on how hard you were to catch you got to spend the night in the can. Hmm, another one of those hard lessons.
