THIS IS EXACTELY what I am looking for!!! Not only are those two hotrod girls pretty, but they also kicked ass!

Now I am trying to figure out how to get a larger scan of the article, as I was not able to make out all teh words from the scan you posted... If you are able to scan the photos separately, so I can have a good size version of them that would be great, then the text can be scanned as a stand alone, make it as large as possible so it is readable, maybe I can post that article 'as is' in my exhibit. You can email the scans directly to me at sitarfaith@aol.com ... Of course I am assuming you have the time to do this... God I sure hope you do because it would be soooooo useful to my endeavour! Please please please please? :o

Does the article say the names and location (city/state) of the two girls? So maybe I can try to track them down? The other two women I am honoring (Veda Orr and Helle Nice) both are dead, so unless I could track down a descendant of Veda who can tell me more about her life, I am afraid all I have to go by are the few one liners here and there posted in magazines... The Rod and Custom article regretably did not say much at all about her. :(

By the way that #61 roadster in that article sure looks a lot like mine... Same shaped headights, upright chopped windshield.... Same "feel"... Maybe an ancestor of Hiboy? :)

The burnout picture is in England, so is the picture of the two roadsters at the Hot Rod Drags, Shakespeare County Raceway. Not that long ago actually, there is quite a scene here for ol'timey hot rods.

hey Mel, I think I am going to move to Germany :LOL: they sure have cool looking roadsters there... A nice departure from all the modernized Hiboys I see in LA ... I love the photo of the hotrod with the words painted on it:

"Real hotrods don't shine"

I am going to quote this in my video, since it will be displayed in the Suede Building (flat cars only)....

I did find 3 photos of chick racing a black roadster/truck on that website :)... And also saw a LOT of beautiful shots of misc roadsters... All useful..

And to answer your questions, I need both photos of roadster women hotrodders (real ones, not useless pinups posing half nude next to cars :rolleyes: ) AND vintage photos of 32 Hiboys doing their thing! Remember it is the DEUCE anniversary and it is the Grand National Roadster show, so I need ROADSTERS and preferably 32 HIboys or looking close to a 32 (1930/31/32/33/34)

DennyW is right, this topic can easily wander into dangerous territory. Apparently what Highboy Gal wants is pictures of women drivers competing in '32 Fords and this Forum has found quite a few so far. This is my last plug/vote for the Root roadster and Helen Root to be included in her list. After all the Root roadster had a '32 frame and a Deuce radiator shell. I guess you could say I really like the look of that roadster and Helen was an attractive MOM as well.

yes i would like to include her, but would prefer a photo of her driving or standing (alone) next to roadster or fixing etc... the one photo posted here is making her look more like a housewife standing next to her hodrodder husband... Otherwise it is a great photo (larger size and color)...

I guess let's all keep trying to find another photo of her?

Faith, I went thru some more real early Hot Rod mags and found some more stuff you can possibly use.

The first article is from the December 1951 issue.

The single photo of Ms. Stinson-Lutes is from November 1951.

The pic of Marcia Campbell is from the January 1951 issue of Hot Rod. That is her Barris built channeled 32 that she is working on in the photo.

Marcia later owned several rods and customs, and wrote some articles for rod magazines of the period.

There were several all girl car clubs in the late 50's and early 60's, but most were more custom car oriented than roadsters, if you are interested in girls owning customs, I have several magazine articles of them.
