Proper roadster pilot etiquette

Would you believe that after spending 4 weeks and driving 3000 miles in the southwest of USA, other than going to specific Hotrod Gatherings and events i could have said the same about America (apart from LA). There are plenty of real nice HotRods in England/France/Germany etc, but you have to search them out. I've never been to Ireland so i cannot comment. I live in the South west and never ever see anything interesting until i get within yards of the entrance to a show. We have around 10 nice cars in our local club. Did you get to Billing this year or the Supernationals? If you did you would have stunned by the quality of the cars, and i know that there were real nice cars that didn't attend. For the size of our country we have a very healthy scene. It's getting bigger every year.
Your right about petrol though, i've put 15000 miles on the roadster in 2 years. It costs a small fortune (can't think of a better way to spend my money), but we dont cover anywhere near the distances you guys do in a year.

I happen to speak fluent French. :LOL: Not cause I am very smart, but simply because I was born there :LOL: My mom just sent me a newspaper from Nice (my home town) and it covered their last classic car expo, people are VERY fond of old cars there... Sorry this thread has digressed a bit

I grew up in Pennsylvania, and all my life dreamed of moving to California where all the hot rods were. Finally, in the late '70's I took a transfer there and lived in southern Cal for a year. I was surprised to see very few hot rods actually out driving around. I thought it would be like American Graffiti every day, but I seldom saw any custom cars.

One weekend I went to a car show/cruise, and there was every hot rod I had grown up seeing in magazines over the years. I was in heaven. In fact, we took a hot rod magazine with us for the kids to read in the car, and the cover car "Turkey T" was driving beside us as we approached the show. Really cool.

But it seems the hot rods got reserved for special outings, and maybe that has changed somewhat since then. (I hope)

I do cross path with other hotrods while driving the roadster, but it is very rare. In 3 months of driving it about 3 or 4 times a week, I have only crossed path with maybe 5 other cars. Of course that is excluding shows and car cruises gatherings. however, when i cruise down neighborhoods, especially Simy valley and my own area, I can see a LARGE amount of hotrods and classic cars parked in driveways and - GARAGES... Anytime a garage door is open I'll peek to see and surely enough BAM here is a hotrod!

the question remains: WHY ARE ALL THESE CARS SITTING?

I saw a sticker on a hotrod the other day that made me smile (sounded so much like me) it read:

CRUISE TILL THE WHEELS FALL OFF

now that's more like it!
