    Yes, as mentioned, there are a lot of sources of info at places like barnes and Noble in the "how to build a hot rod" type books. These are usually pretty good, but there is no book I know of that specifically will give you every measurement and component to build the car. The reason is, every hot rod is essentially a custom built creation and many things affect what width axle you need, or where the engine goes, etc.

    The first step is to get a pretty clear picture in your mind of what YOUR finished car will look like. Will it be fendered or fenderless, highboy or channelled, Chevy engine or not, fat rear tires or skinnies, etc. You can't determine any of the answers to your questions until you know those answers.

    Now, here comes the biggest part of the whole thing, and the hardest for anyone to answer honestly and accurately. What are your personal abilities and equipment to undertake this project? Builing a car is like building a house, you don't just take on something of that scope if you own a saw and hammer, it takes the knowhow and equipment to do it. Same with a car. You need to possess a great many skills that only come from doing it, and you also need more tools and equipment than you will ever imagine. I am not making this statement to say you don't have these qualities, but I just have to mention it up front.

    The other factor is one of cost. The '32 Ford is one of the most costly cars to build, usually twice or three times as much as a comparable Model A or similar car. EVERYTHING for a Deuce is expensive, everything. The other side of that coin is that virtually every piece for a '32 is available from one supplier or another, even rolling chassis or complete cars.

    None of what I said above is aimed at discouraging you, in fact, just the opposite. You are taking the first step and asking questions, that is very smart. I just want you to go into this with your eyes wide open and not get half way in and get discouraged. Get yourself a whole bunch of vendors catalogs, like Speedway, Pete and Jakes, SO-Cal, etc and you will see the myriad of setups out there.
