I'm re-assembling my front end (slowly) and have come accross an issue that I'm not sure is correct.
Let me start by saying that I bought a rolling chassis started by somebody else, the only thing I'm questioning is the attachment of the dust shields inside the brake drum. It's got 40's ford backing plates, and when I dis-assembled the plates for powdercoating, the special bolts that go through the spindle and hold the dust shield were inserted with the heads on the "spindle side" and the castle nuts inside the dust shield.
Based on some pictures I've seen, I'm wondering if that's backwards, and if the nuts are supposed to be on the spindle side with the head of the bolt inside the dust shield?
Hope this makes sense? If not, I can try to post a picture.
Another related question, do I have to use the castle nuts, or can I use Ny-lock nuts instead?
Thanks guys.
