Anyone with any experience with stainless headers? Do they expand more? Do they discolor? Are they more prone to leaks? Will just any block hugger work on the 32 with hood?

They do discolor and they will rust, but they will last longer.
They will turn gold--I can always spot them at a show. You would be better off getting a pair of ceramic coated block hugger headers from Sanderson--they are a little more expensive than some other brands, but the quality is very good. I have them on my '32 and they are an excellent fit.

What motor are those sandersons on in your '32?
A 450 hp 383. I used Sanderson's 1 3/4 inch tube shorty header.
I have S&S HPC coated hugger style on my 32 3 window running a 350 SB Chevy. Hood side panels are fine. No problems with clearance or paint blisters.
I just got the stainless tubing in to start building my headers for the Ranchero. Now I've got to decide which heads to run, high port or not, then I can get the flanges cut out......
