hi i recently came across a 32 chevy 4 door in excellent condition. But i d rather a 2 door, my question is has any one attemped to make a 2 door out of a 4 door. if so any pictures, suggestions or any ideas! would be appreciated. I also want to put an independent front suspension on it. I know every one uses mustang but there are not to many kits out there. I d like to put air ride on all four corners, any ideas? Remove the hinges from the rear doors, handles and everything else from the door/ latch strikers, remove glass, weld peice of sheet metal in the window openings, grind it smooth so it fills it in w/ no curves that you normally see, as the metal curves into the window opening and weld the doors in place, smooth it out on the inside. Then fill in the way back windows same way if you have any, then cut out 2 larger window openings exzact out of both sides, and you got a 2dr. Of course, theres not much holding the body togther, you could simply cut just in front of and just behind the rear doors compleatly off, then take the remaining front and back and weld them back up, but then you got frame length problems, unless your going hoodless, you can center the engine in the compartment with more room/ push body back, might be good if you are able to run a firewall that is dented out, for legroom.
cool, i was comparing pictures last night and it looks as if the 2 doors are shorter. I was thinking about going by the wheel base to get my measurements. Then cutting out what i dont need., and doing what you suggested making the windows one continous piece. I was hoping i could use the door shin for the sheet metal since it already has the proper contour. but if i screw up! i guess you can fix anything with a welder. ANother thing i was thinking is if i chop the top i will have the extra metal to lengthen thwe roof for the front post to line up. As of now i kinda have a clean canvas. So im definatly open to suggestions, and i appreciate your help.
Why not be diffrent, instead of chopping the top, actully raise the top about 4" then, section the body 2" and channel it 2" over the frame or just section it 4". Sectioning is cutting the body in half horizontally, then cutting out the desired section amount and weld it back up. Just thoughts to consider. Door skins would work for the sheetmetal.Quote:
