Best Wheel and tire size for a 32 HighBoy

Thanks for all the great replys, and the pictures. I'm getting a lot of good advice, and really appreciate it. Sounds like 29-30" for the rears seems to be the concensus.
I studied a lot of cars at the AutoRama in town here last month, and one of the things I noticed was that the wheels seemed a little small compared to the overall tire size, so I'm thinking for sure 16" and possibly 17" with a 30" overall diameter?
I keep looking at all kinds of different options. as far as wheels, either American Racing Torque Thrust D's or American Racing Salt flat's.
What do you think? Trying to go with something that copies the look of the 60's.

cast centered salt flats or polished? either way salt flats are cool!!!

I know 34s aren't exactly proportionate to the 32 but my 34 has 17x11s on the back with a 29.5 tall BF Goodrich Radial with BFG 15x6s on the front. I went through all the sleepless nights like you are probably doing and this is the best combination I could come up with.

As I metioned earlier, I like the 16s look too. And I think the 16s are more of a 60s look. I chose the Budniks at the time because Halibrand nor Americans were making anything larger than 15" & 16" wheels and I wanted to fill up the fenders. With your fenderless plans, you should have more options.

As for wheels, take a look at ET wheels if you are looking for that 60s look...they have a solid product if you can wait for the delivery (it took them over 6 months to deliver two 10 Spoke wheels I am running on my Mullins trailer.)

Here is a photo of what the 17x11s look like on the sedan. If I were able to get a "muligan" I would either go with a 16 or 17 height with a 9.5 or 10" width. I think the 11s are a little over the edge and it looks too "pro-streeted" depending upon the angle sometimes. The cool thing is, all I have to do is change it when I am ready for a new thrill. Of course I have to stop driving it long enough to do that and so far that has been my excuse not too.

Anyway...have fun...thats what it is all about.

Here's an amazingly well detailed car . . . with horribly disproportionate wheels and tires (just my opinion).

Yes the 24's are a little to big! I would have went with 22's!

Hey Resin... I will jot down the tire size and post it for you in a day or two since my memory is not what it used to be and I am not near the car right now... I will post the size to this thread as soon as I can...
