well eldbrock has a nice hi rise 2x4 intake but you would have to get a better cam does it have a small block in it??? then you could put you a street scoop that will run you about $235 out of summit racing but i dont know what you want to do with this car but those mods look good on just about anything
I'm sure Hyper Tech and other companies make a performance chip for the computer. A good cat-back exhaust and headers would help.
it has a lt1 350 small block everything is stock except for flowmasters. can u think of anything besides an intake? The intake is on my to buy lists so i just need some other ideas
Inexpensive first step would be to find a kit to remove that home plate noise dampener. I heard about somebody getting about 5-10 hp from fluid change, but I don't know how factual that is. Underdrive pulleys are fairly cheap. Headers for the LT1 are kinda pricey(relative to standard 350 headers), but worth it.
Guess What your right tommycat. On Horsepower TV they proved it, they ran a baseline then changed all lubricant fluids ( engine oil, tranny fluid and diff lube ) all with royal purple products and there was like a 10 HP gain. It was on an LT1 Camaro too, cant remember if it was a Z/28 or not though but I remember it was a '98 modelyear.
Nitrous, baby! Give it the juice...it's cheap but immediate HP.
I have to agree with the computer mod and just give it a good tune up with all new fluids, spark plugs, good set of wires, etc.
you say its a 96 model with a lt1 and youer going to change the intake i wouldnt spend the money on the intake, but i would think about the throttle body, air induction system, headers, reprograming the computer, pulleys and do a little something to the trans. that should pick it up a little. there is nothing cheap on a lt1, i know ive baught it all. :3dSMILE: :3dSMILE:Quote:

Hit it with a 150 shot of the juice and save ur money for parts ur gunna really need!!!
Lets see the intake could be upgraded to the LT4 intake, or you could go with the non-efi intake. Not much choice there. Forget swapping the intake. For more HP go with a "Hot Cam" and LT4 heads. You could also get the 383 rotating assembly(when you are less broke). Just have your intake machined, and try a larger throttle body. The best recommendation I can give would be to start small. and work up. Personally I don't like bottle-fed engines, but then that's just an individual preference.
i never noticed what year it was and how many miles is on the motor,i see it useless to spice up a motor with over 100,000 and no rebuild ,especially if your budget is tight, new parts don't go well on old ,worn engines..even bolt ons will just put more wear on something already with 1 foot in the junk yard,im just trying to be brutally honest bro, compression checks etc will help you..i know motors now run a lot longer, but you looking for horsepower......and im telling you trying to make even scant hp on a weak motor will kill it...a chip would def help...but again..how many miles?maybe im missing something fellows,i dunno....there is not much, trapped potential, in a downed motor, sometimes they need to be rebuilt, just a thought...its all about$$$$$
