A belt drive is a much better option. It is quieter than even a timing chain set, absorbs less power than chain or gears. Consider a belt for a real race engine, especially for rock solid timing. Chains and gears can let timing walk back and forth a half of a degree if you get harmonics, a belt drive dampens harmonics out. For a basic street engine it does not matter.
Any dolt with a Torch and Welder can customize a car.
Real artists use what God bestowed on em.
