I have heard more than a few mechanics rave about 283s with a 327 crank.

But - I thought only the 327 block 283s (identified by dished lower cylinders to receive the 327 crank) could be safely bored to .125, allowing 2.02 valves.

Something about hitting a water jacket if you bore other 283 blacks to 4 inches.
