Starter help needed
Great to me a new member! I have a sbc 350 in my 1977 Aquacraft 222 boat, and I need a new starter. The pad has two studs extending for mounting, and 2 nuts tighten the starter down. I don't know the exact year of the engine but sure it is an ".....01" (or 10?), most likely from the 70's. Flywheel teeth count is also unknown. I'm basically asking what regular or mini starters fit the 2-stud mounting pad? Larry

If that boat has a closed bilge you have to replace it with a marine cert. starter by law it is covered under N.F,P.A 302 that is national fire protection act covering marine applactions

What's wrong with the one that's in it?

i'm a dinosaur i still have them rebuilt . you end up with a better starter .

Yeah, the rebuild kit is cheap, and there is likely an electric motor shop somewhere near or in a bigger city.
If you really want a mini starter, Mercruiser's starters are all mini starters now. But you will need your engine serial number to verify the right one. If you have an OMC from the 70's, then I feel sorry for you,
