SBC 350 Intake Gaskets Not Sealing

I see you're in North Vancouver where the air gets cool/cold. If you have any drivability (bucking, jumping) issues after you get everything sorted out, blame it on your Air Gap intake manifold. I have had reports from several fellows who have had problems with them. In my opinion, they should be marked FOR RACE CAR USE ONLY and Edelbrock is doing a dis-service to hot rodders for not labeling them as such. A street car, in cool or cold weather, needs a heated intake manifold to help homogenize the fuel before sending it on its way into the intake port. Otherwise, you get lean/rich/lean/rich/lean shots into the ports and drivability suffers. :eek:

My choice would be an Edelbrock 7101 or Weiand 8150.

My personal experience with the air gap, is that it works well fully warmed, Wide Open Throttle.

That's it. Part throttle response is pure turd.

Oh really? Thanks for the info, I'll keep that one in mind -- I had always assumed the cooler the intake the better (dense air). I am planning on running the truck as is for the summer, and then installing a 6-71 supercharger over the fall / winter. Hopefully I don't run into the issues you're speaking about, but if I do, I'll know the first place to look!

Thanks, yeah I think that attributed to most of the oil burning issues I was seeing.

I fired her up last night -- no leaks at all, and runs like a top! Next up, I need to figure out how to tune a carburetor,...my wideband shows 12.5:1 AFR,...
