    if you turn it backwards you won't need to remove the spark plugs

    At the drag races, did you ever see a Top Fuel or Funny Car crew member put a long handle and socket on the blower pulley and turn the motor over backwards? That was to purge the cylinders of unburned fuel without hydraulically locking the whole mess. Works the same way to purge any liquid from the cylinders without damage.
