Valve cover breather
I have a 86 350 I was told has blow by because I have a little oil and smoke coming out of the valve cover breather. I have a pcv on one side and a breather on the other is there a catch can or a oil air separator I can install to eliminate the smoke and oil and if so what's recommended thanks

Have you changed the PCV valve?

Tech is right on this, just because you have crank case pressure it doesnt always mean there is excessive blow by. take your rearend housing for example, plug the vent hole and it will blow gear lube out somewhere, due to the parts rotating and building pressure, generally this pressure on a modern vehicle is sucked back through the carb (ok how new we talking with a carb right?) and reburnt with a one way check valve the pcv valve (positive crankcase pressure) if it has one make sure it only flows one way by blowing in it and its facing the right way, if it doesn't theres the problem, if it doesn't have one install one and route it from the breather to the carb. If you really think its a blowby condition perform a leakdown test to confirm it, but it might be way simpler! best of luck Matt

Morose makes a nice oil catch can its to collect small amounts of oil that gets buy the PC so it stays out of intake if you have a ring problem a catch can is not a fix. A compression test is a good start
