Welcome Aboard Gregedanz, good to see you here. when you say cam "burnt out" are you saying the lobes were damaged and flattened?

When the cam was replaced, was the motor disassembled, cleaned and new bearings installed? If not - then all that metal from the damaged lobes traveled through the motor and more than likely caused more damage.
