Okay guys,,,, I've run into an issue with header fit. Picked up a set of Flo-Tech 11706-1FLT tight fit headers based on what I read on them and they do not work on this setup.

243 Heads
They will not sit flat on the head before hitting the oil pan at the collector.
Has anyone ever put one of these engines in a 32 and which headers were used. I'll get a few pix of the build and post soon as I can.

This engine came out of a 2002 Camaro Z28,,, I'm looking at some Hooker header photos to see if they may fit. The Flo-tech fit so tight that they hit the side of the block before the flange is flat against the head. I'll post pix when I get some decent ones.
I would recommend that you not buy any header out there that has less than a 3/8" flange. Thinner flanges tend to warp and leak.
Have you tried reversing the headers to opposite side? And there are several oil pan configurations as to bludging wide sumps
Okay,,, figured out why they wouldn't sit flat on the head,,,, the double D shaft was in the way. Once I removed the shaft they sit flat against the head and gave more clearance from the oil pan. Not as much as I'd like but they could work. I would have to change the steering up to get them to work. However,,, I've sent the Flo-Tech headers back and have a set of Hookers coming. Went online and looked at them side by side. The difference is the way the end tubes travel to the collector. On the Flo-Tech the end tubes (say #1 and #7) go to the outside of the collector and at a longer angle. The collector is also at an angle that points toward the oil pan instead of straight down. On the Hooker the end tubes run to the inside and at a shaper angle and the collector looks to point more toward the ground instead of the oil pan. I believe this will provide the clearance I need for the double D shaft and not require re-routing it or using a double swivel joint. Once I've tested the new setup I'll get some pix posted. Hopefully they will be here by Saturday for test fitting. With all this rain we are getting I can spend more time in the garage :)
Okay, the headers finally came in and they fit much more to my liking and I'm not going to have to move the steering column at the firewall. I did have to move it over in the cab just a tad. It needed to move anyway to give decent hand clearance. Here's a few pix of the headers in place. Hope this helps anyone doing an LS install and provides visual.
