This is why I asked if it was an automatic, I've experienced this cenerio before, but it was a manual tranny, some dumb a$$ had run the ignition wire near the linkage, lol. If its an automatic, then converter size and/or stall speed, and/or timing/carb tuning issues could be the problem.
