Initial Timing Advance?
Hi all, I am having timing problems. Trying to set initial timing my cam instructions (Edelbrock 2102) say set at 14 advanced. When i set the initial there it runs fine but exhaust seems to get hot and after 20 min of run time very hard to restart ( slow crank like dead batt). If i retard down to 8 or 10deg starts up fine. My question is why so much advance on a mild cam? Do i need to be at 14 advanced for initial timing? Cam specs are
@50 intake 204
exh 214
lift 420/442 lobe sep 112*
motor is chevy 350 .040 over Edelbrock performer heads. street demon 625 carb. Any help would be great.
Thanks in advance.
