Don't take it as gospel, but on one of the Chevy forums it said,
There are two different bolt circles for the timing gear - 55-95 flat tappet cams used a wider pattern than the 87-99 roller cams.
Since yours is from 70-73 it's a Gen I flat tappet engine, unless it got an upgrade at some point along the way. You could go ahead and get into the dis-assembly and measure, then call Summit to order the gear set. Another post on the Chevy forum said that the early cams were 1.235" bolt circle. Again, just passing on what I read, so check it out before buying parts.
