1988 350 with high lift cam = computer problems?
I'm new here. Bought a Rod with a 88 Vette 350 w/cam. When cold it sounds like rods are loose. Stops when it warms . I'm told that it takes a few minutes for the computer to recognize it and correct. Anyone heard of this?

Welcome aboard Casper! Good to see you here.
If it is truly a rod noise, or even a roller rocker set sounding off, it is common for them to be a bit noisy until full operating temperature. The parts expand when at temp and "take-up" some extra space, tolerances get closer. I don't believe the computer is involved because by 88 they were "learning" and self correcting. They didn't need to re-learn at each startup cycle.
If at full temp and still hearing noises, then you'll need to investigate.

An added welcome, and I agree with Mike. Your ECU learns once and then holds that base until it is re-flashed or powered down for an extended time. I'd say chances are slim that the computer is causing noises in your lower end or valve train.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.
