Just like tech said it....I would never *waste* my money on a 305. The blocks were not meant to be bored and to stroke it is a waste when you can have more inches. The 383 or 406 is a much better option. And to all those who would like to say that the 305 is gonna save you money on gas...I might like to say that its easier to walk all day than sprint, if you get my idea. Lugging that piece of American iron around all day will work it harder and its just likely to burn as much fuel as the larger ones. The big ones will give you more fun in the end anyway, the option to go FAST, a word the 305 never understood. Just my opinion though, decent stockers, not great rods.

Stock 305s torque is best at 250 in the efi versions even. Decent 383s torque?? 450 quite attainable. I think it was even Hot Rod that took a gm crate 383 and put it over 500 ft lbs with a couple of changes.
