The aluminum intake manifold gaskets on a 327 keep sqeezing out and leaking after it is ran for a only a short period of time. Do any of you guys have any idea why this could be happening. I have even tried silicone on the gaskets. Any help would be appreciated. The engine year is 1966. Thanks
I always put em' in dry with just a dab of silicone in the corners where they mate with the port gaskets. Make sure everything is very clean & dry. Never had trouble doing it that way.
i throw mine away & use about a 1/4 inch of black silicone gasket sealer on it, instead of the gaskets. It must of been a big problem cause if you get a gasket kit from a Chevy Dealer & even some aftermaket kits, they give ya a small tube of sealer instead of those funky gaskets......joe
trial and error is the key here everybody prob does this different

I'm with cousin Joe on this one too. The sealant in a tube makes a "perfect" fit, and you can trim off any excess that bothers you with a razor after it cures. If your heads or the block decks have been milled (and the intake hasn't been shaved to compensate) it can sometimes make the fitment of those annoying seals real aggravating.
What Uncle Bob says is true. I had my heads milled but couldn't get a good seal with a gasket. The sealant worked fine for me.
I would have to agree, I also go one step further and take a center punch and a small hammer and install some dimmples on the block aswell as the intake so that the silicone has something to adhere to and help hold in place.
