i was wondering if there was a way to compensate for a large cam without changing out stalls
btw this is for ppl like jay and myself a few months back
what i did was drill two holes 3/32 of an inch in the front two butterflys on my carb and turn down the idle screw depending on the engine specs might have to go with a bigger hole start small and work up this should stop you from investing in a new stall convertor and stop your ride from dieing in gear at idle ....again for all you that have large cams and a stock stall heres your answer
Hey dom;
From what I have experienced, the only way to compensate for a large cam and not having to change to a high stall converter, is by going with high compression and/or steep gears. I have all the above, hehhee!
lol nice
To get a better idle after doing the above carburetor modifications, run as much initial spark timing as possible, bring the mechanical advance in as early as possible and run a vacuum advance. Run the vacuum line for the distrib to a manifold vac port (full vacuum), not a ported carb outlet.
sounds good to me bob well put
