    Why is it eating alternators and belts? Alignment issue? Bracket flexing? There are ways to fix either of these issues.

    As for a new (correct) bracket, I am sure that you can find one at swap meets, or maybe places like OPG, Classic Chevy places or even Summet or the likes.
