Agree with Dave, not enough information. In order to intelligently choose a camshaft for a motor, you need, among other things, the actual static compression ratio of the motor. To calculate that, you will need 5 values:
1. Cylinder volume....this can be figured mathematically
2. Chamber volume....chambers must be poured with alcohol and a burette
3. Piston deck height volume....this can be figured mathematically
4. Piston crown volume....the piston manufacturer will publish this figure in cc's
5. Head gasket volume....the gasket manufacturer will publish this figure in cc's
Can you just shove a cam into the motor and hope for the best without matching anything to anything? Sure, fellows have been doing it that way every since there was a motor to shove a cam into. Or, you can measure everything and do it scientifically with a known outcome. Your choice.Last edited by techinspector1; 01-31-2013 at 07:47 PM.
