once again here comes the 1988 chevy pickup 305, now most of you out there hate the motor but im trying to pull off the impossible, now to get right to it, is there a supercharger made for an 88' chevy 305? and if so, where can i get it?

Yeah, heres a suggestion. Get a set of 350 heads, and shave them down to get your compression back.then either hone out or just swap your intake. And then hopefully youll realise its probably cheaper to buy a bigger engine. Or just be happy with some minor mods.
thanks for ur time and advice, i already put an edelbrock performer intake manifold on it, along with a new cam and lifters...so will the 350 heads still fit? and if so where can i get a set of heads for cheap?
Any small block chevy blower kit will fit. I think B&M has a nice kit. Blower motors are supposed to have lower compression anyway. A blower should get a few extra horses out of that mouse motor. Once you get the need for speed you might even upgrade to a 350 for your next engine.
I would love to have a 350Hp blown 305 engine for my Monte Carlo....mostly due to emissions - keeping the same size engine in the car...and I'm sure that 350Hp isn't unrealistic with the right crank, rods, and heads are used...any ideas from others?
Well, if you supercharge your motor, you can kiss all the trying to keep the emisions legal goodby, just because of the emisions that the blower will cause, not to mention the carbs you will have to run will also not be emissions legal, the most I'v ever seen a 305 pump out was like 320 HP, that was without it blown and was on a website with instructions on how they got it. A 305 is mostly a dead end road, for a performance motor anyway, there alright for cruisers. Sorry if I may have bursted your bubble but, it's a fact, you won't get very far with a 305.Quote:

actually a 305 can reach well over 320 horses and you saying it cant is ignorant on your behalf...the 305 ho is a good motor and can have alot of horses as can any other motor...keep in mind all the bolt ons for that 305 will fit a 350 and a 400 so go ahead and do what you want eventualy youll want more cubes and your money wont be wasted cuase guess what all your external mods will bolt right on a 350 or 400 so have fun with your 305 and prove this guy wrong please i have pulled 375 horses out of a 305 without a blower and thats more than a 350 with a few bolt ons...good luck
dominick I'll have to agree with you. I run a 305 and I've got close to 300Hp out of it. I had it bored .060 with built cam ,new intake maniflod and carb, new pistons. Runs like a champ.
If you got the motor and the money go for it, supercharge away, but if you got more money, buy more motor. If you were to put that same supercharger on a 350, you would be well on your way to your 400 horse range. Proving someone wrong isnt always the way to go, sure you can get that horse but your gonna have to realize you can only push that motor so much til your at your limit, in my opinion buy that supercharger since it can be used on more than that 305 but DONT buy heads for that 305. The chamber and valve size will hurt any bigger displacement motor if you ever decide to swap, good luck
I had a 305 in my monte, but the thing just had nothing going for it performance wise. I'm not saying that it can't be done, but if you are going to do all that work, You might as well get a 350, and do all the work on it while it's out of the car, that way when your done you can just drop it in a drive. Thats what I did anywayz........
If it were my truck I would probobly get out the plans for a bigger engine...... but in the meantime, if I had a truck that was missing ONLY an engine, I would put the respirator on the 305 and go play. My 2¢.
A T-76 is your answer my friend !!! I have one on MY 305, in my PICKUP!! And of course the full RPM performer package(all the way to exhaust) by edelbrock. Cheaply done, makes breakfast out of the ricers, yet still gives the displacement freaks a good run. AND by the way check out this months Hot Rod mag. There is a 305 TBI camaro with the same T-76 and not much more that run's 11.45 sec 1/4's!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :p

305 's Rock! I'm about to build one up for my 1990 Chev sportside! I plan on a mild cam and maybe some help from a big blue bottle!

Matt actually, some of the blowers are compltly emissions legal.
Behold..................my 4 bolt main, 355 / 425hp SBC, 9lbs blower boost, 144 B&M Blower, Holley 700 cfm Double Pumper blower carb, 76cc chamber iron heads (I'd perfer aluminum Edelbrocks ), dished blower pistons, roller rockers, mild street cam, ceramic coated headers, etc.
When using a blower, you need to get your compression down, 7.5:1 - 8.5:1 no higher, your head chambers must be large 72 - 76 cc to achieve low compression. Intake ports 190 - 200 cc , to large a port and you'll get detonation.
Also a blower carb is a must, Holley makes a new 700cfm DblPumper blower carb, any bigger and it'd be to much carb for the application.
What size heads do you have on your 305 ? Can you put a blower on the intake manifold you got ?
