Hey thanks for the help. I have a 355 now with Forged pistons and the Edlebrock Performer intake/cam. I run stock GM Vortech heads and a Holley 650. The motor runs real strong for a simple street car. Decent gas mileage and clean idle. With a built TH-350 and 2800 stall. 7.5 inch with 3.73's it runs 12.70's 12.80's on motor with good gas and lots of timing. I spray a 150 plate shot and manage 11.60's 11.70's @ 118-119 mph. I would have no problem upgrading the fuel suply and moving on two a fogger 250 but I want to redo the motor to be pretty nuts without the juice.
I relize the car is heavy wich I believe is Chevy Hotroding's biggest downfall. All the good cars are tanks. Anyway....
After thinking it out I'm gonna need around 400HP to run low 12's. I think you are on target with the 383/400 idea. With enough compression and the right cam/intake and and head work I'm sure 400HP is obtainable.
Is there a place I can go to find out what parts work best for different combintaions?
Whats the difference between the 383 and 400? I know the 383 uses the 400 crank and maby longer rods. How does the 400 work? I would like start checking prices.
