    327 sbc in 1978 Nova

    Good evening,
Just looking for some general info here. I got my hands on a 1978 Nova with a 327 in it. The engine block casting number is 3782870.

I'm pretty new to all this - the car is not much to look at but I plan on getting it running and having some fun with it . My question is, how do i find out where the engine came from? The kid i bought it from said it may have come out of a corvette.

The first thing I need is a power steering pump. There is no bracket or anything like that so I'm just looking for some info on how/where to find a pump for the engine. I see both long & short pumps available but I don't know which to choose.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

There is an alpha-numerical stamping on the cylinder block at the very front on the passenger side. Post that stamp #.

Use a short water pump and this #200 kit.....
