    here is how i deck a block .i will start with a 350 chevy . pistons flat top KB 228 CH 1.561 rod 5.700 stroke 3.480 deck at O would need to be 9.001 deck if your using a rebuilt rods they can be Ez under size buy abit from the resize of the big end of the rod that hold the rod bearing as the bore of the rod get cuts so it can be resize so a rod 5.700 can be .002 under over all size 5.698 this is nit picking but it called stack and can add up as well as stroke could be off abit to and piston pin to piston deck . you need about 040 of room so the piston will not crash in the head so if lets say you .010 up out of the hole you would need at least a 050 head gasket abit more would not hurt it the pistons to wall is big
