    Chosing a camshaft, Help

I have a 350 small block, Just took it to school, bored 30 over, honed, baked, blasted, decked, and the mains are perfect. I am buying a master kit from northern auto parts. The motor will have a STOCK crank, after market rods, flat top pistons, and possibly vortec heads, A decent rise intake, and a holly 4 barrel 650 cfm. I am having a difficult time choosing a camshaft. It will be a 4 speed, so no need for a stall converter.
I am in between 292/292 dur 488/488 lift, 300/300 dur, 515/515 lift Or somewhere in between there. I want a nice lopy cam, that makes some good torque. If you could give me some info I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Comp Cams has a neat program called Cam Quest, free download and quite accurate---might want to check it out. To make a good choice, you'll also need to know your compression ratio, valve sizes, flow rate on the intake and a lot of other things....

the closer you are to stock ..the farther apart lope and torque will be with a lopy cam ..my stang lost nearly a half second when i went to a huge cam versus the mild one ...if you want sound go big ... if you want performance go small to mild

iv built a few identical engines to that.. sounds like your looking at comp cams magnum cams? sounds like you will have around
9.50:1 with vortec heads (ther is more to calculating cr than that) but im taking a guess. whats more important than static cr is dynamic cr. it is reflective too what you would see on a compression gauge. it is directly affected by your static cr and you cams
intake closing point. with that said i would tend to the neither of those cams would be a good choice. if i was you i would go for the comp magnum 280h cam. it sound cool, and makes awsome power
