    Small block id ?

Hi,We just picked up a Malibu and it has a small block in it with the numbers on right front of engine that reads 10705 clu. I cant find any engine codes like that. can anyone tell me what kind of block this is? The heads are dimples with no acess holes and engime has roller rockers and a 850 holley. Thanks Davey

Potentially a Calif emission engine could have found its way to NY...I think
one of the Eastern states also had Calif emissions laws...was it MA?

A lot of Northeastern states had adopted CA emmisions. Mass was one of them.

The "1070"5 is a mystery - but as stated "CLU" probably started life as an L65, 350 Chevy. Nothing special - 165 horse smog motor built to California emissions standards. Definitely a transplant and the only way to know what you've really got is to do a bit more research. Head casting numbers would be helpful to see if there's been substantial work done or if someone put bolt on rockers and a huge Holley carb on the motor to impress. The 850 is almost certainly way too much for the engine unless you find the engine's really been upgraded..

    Small block id contuined

Took engine out today. Removed heads and found them to be 202s with 63cc chambers. I then found pistons to be 60 over manleys (number p5604) (old stuff). I think thats 11 to 1 compresson? I guess ill never find gas here at the pumps to run this thing? lol
