No it's not the mechanical injection it's their electronic fuel injection. I have run their mechanical fuel injection back in the late 70's and early 80's in a sprint car. The only way to go here with methanol and pretty much WOT on dirt track.
Actually ran one of the Hilborn injected methanol 410 sbc's on street with dial a jet set up. Very violent acceleration and twisted the factory frame on the car beyond repair. Pretty wild ride but not very streetable.
They say that their EFI set up is driveable from idle through entire RPM band.
Their mechanical injection even with a dial a jet is somewhat drivable but mostly good for idle and WOT applications.
Using Electromotive distributorless ignition and the Hilborn EFI is controllable with Electromotives TEC/3R part # 070-3400 Engine control module.
Just want to know if anybody here has used Hilborn EFI and how it worked out for them.Last edited by sbcguy; 06-04-2011 at 07:10 PM.
