LT1 rotating assembly in Gen 1 block?
im in a rules limited racing class restricted to basically stock engines with cast iron 2 barrel intakes, stock open chamber heads, and max cam lift of .500". i heard that the LT1 rotating assemblies will drop into a gen 1 motor with no modifications. i am interested in this swap since these rotating assemblies are apparently lighter and stronger than regular gen 1 stuff and i can get access to my buddys wrecked camaro with an LT1 for very cheap. now i understand it would be a one peice seal block that would be needed for this swap and i have one. what im wondering is if i can drop the whole crank rolds and pistons into this one virgin bore one piece block with little trouble and then slap on my tried and tested 487 casting heads, 2 barrel intake and 500cfm 2g and oval track cam and be ahead of the competition atleast a little in the fact that this motor should spin up quicker.
also we are limited to cast iron factory 2 barrel intakes and i was wondering if there would be any benefit to running a tbi intake with a custom adapter for the rochester carb?
Dammit, another good ol boy gone. Condolence to the family. RIP Mike
