I am putting a 350 chevy crate engine in a 87 Cutlass Supreme replacing the 307 olds engine. The olds generater uses a two prong plug while the chevy alternater uses a 4 prong square type plug. Any ideas how to make it work?

Actually they are both alternators. Simple solution would be to use the Olds alternator.
I wish it were that easy. Problem is that the olds alternator is a v-belt setup and I will be converting to a serpentine setup. I have a pic of the two of them together but see where to attach it.
Wouldn't it be easier to change the pulley on the Olds?
Not to sure about that either. On the olds alt the mounting holes are straight across from each other. 3oclock 9oclock position per say. The chevy alt more like 4 and 8oclock. Also on the sepentine setup there are no elongated holes for adjustments. Everything is direct bolt with the tentioner taking up the slack.
You may be able to take the alt apart and rotate the housing to position the mounting holes differently. I had to do that with mine. There are holes for holding back the brushes for reassembly
