i have a 350 sbc in a 1986 c10. i am wanting to change the heads out. the casting numbers now are 14014416 i believe they came off a 305. i know someone who has a set of 3927185 that i can get for 250.00. they have minor porting 3 angle valve job .600 springs and roller rockers freshly rebuilt. would i benefit anything from putting these heads on or would it hurt me. i will be installing a cam and intake also. any thoughts

Haul 'em off for scrap in my opinion. The guy should be paying you to take them out of his garage.

I would also caution you about using a flat tappet cam. Pat McCarthy won't use 'em anymore without the customer signing a release of liability and I won't recommend them either. You can get into a Howard's juice roller for 500 bucks.
An idea I like even better is to find a '96-'00 L31 motor (long block), build it in your spare time at your own pace, then install it over a weekend and sell the motor you take out. They have become popular, but you should be able to find a long block for around 500 bucks. Do the spring upgrade for lift over 0.430". Optional, buy an L31 short block and bolt on the L31 heads I have linked above. They already have the right springs and retainers and are ready to bolt onto your block.

"self-aligning" rocker arms. 906 heads are the extra heavy duty and most, but not all, have exhaust valve seat inserts.
Scrap iron prices are still climbing though, might want to hold them for another month or so !!!!!
i dont know if this makes a difference but its for a 86 c10 thats has a 350 in it. carbeurated.
hey tech inspector how do my heads i have now stack up. 14014416 on my 350. i just need more power. i have installed a edelbrock intake and edelbrock 600cfm carb. those heads seemed decent but i guess i was wrong. i really dont have the money for aluminum ones right now
The 416 heads are better than the 185's with smaller chambers you have more compression,since this is in a heavier truck your focus needs to be on torque at low and midrange,so what Edelbrock intake are you using? and have you changed camshafts? If your funds are limited we need to find the "best bang for the buck" that fits the budget.There is an old saying" Horsepower costs money,how fast do you want to go?"
i bought the edelbrock performer intake. stock cam but i really wanna change it. not looking for a race truck just some more power. dont wanna be like all the other c10s out there
