OH Happy day.........Turns into ^#$%*&

OH SOB! I'm went from having a happy day to madder than a wet flogging hen. Please bear with me I have to vent. :mad:

I went down to pick up my block and pay the bill. Block looked good and bagged up tight so knowing that it had to ride in the back of the pick up, we loaded it up and payed the bill and headed for the house. Well I got it unloaded and on the stand, Masked everything off and took it out side for a paint job.
Well 3 hours later I pull the masking off and sit back and look at my GLEAMING CHEVY ORANGE block ready of parts and building. About that time something catches my eye and I think WTH is that. I take a closer look and turn the block so the sun shines onto the left bank of the lifter valley and there it is!!!!!!!! A Crack! A M*&^%$#F&*^#%$ crack about inch below the deck right on the head bolt hump.
I called the machine shop and asked the guy if he maxnafluxed the block as I asked to which he reply "YES". I then told him the block was cracked and I was bringing it back to him.
Long story short: Got money back and gave them 200lbs of junk cast iron.:mad: Now I'm sitting here with no block a junk set of 193 heads and nothing to build. But thats OK. I'm headed out to look at a 477hp 11.1cr .575 soild lift, forged TRW pistons, RHS heads SBC with all the goodies already build. I'll let ya know how it turns out. Been a rotten day for me but I hope y'alls was better :whacked::whacked::whacked:

you should have kept it and made a table out of it for the bar!

Sorry for your experience, but sure glad you didn't have a hair line that would have gone unnoticed until you made all kinds of strange new parts inside the engine!!

I just got done unloading my new toy.

Short block
OEM 350 4bolt main, .030 over, Arp main stud kit.
OEM steel crank ground .010/.010
Trw forged .125 dome pistons.
Crower 298 w/ 575in/575in soild lift. Lifters,push rods.
Melling M55HV +25%....Ran 80pnds cold 60pnds wamed up(@ 800rpm)
2 oil pans, 1 black stock, 1 crome +2qt deep pan
Everything was balanced.

Heads
RHS alum elite 225 runners, 63cc chambers, angle plugs. Matched double valve springs with dampers. 7deg locks, 2.08in / 1.64ex. high dollar sodim filled valves.:eek:
Scorpion 1.5 roller rockers.
ARP 12p head stud kit.

Damper
sfi aproved(forget make and model)

Intake
Holly strip dom, single plane high rise.

This motor dynoed at 477hp and 485tq(Will pick up spec sheet monday)

This is way tooooo much motor for truck so some of the things like the cam,lifters,pushrods and maybe the heads if I cant find a way to tame the 11:1cr. the heads will have to go so I can tame this beast a little.

Sounds like it turned out ok anyway. Also sounds like time for a new machine shop for future projects. :rolleyes:

Sounds like you might just have a winner this time. I would consider changing to a standard oil pump instead of the HV and 1.6 rockers though.

What did he magnaflux it with?? Sounds like he used the low cost system of a Mag flash light!!:CRY:
