    valve weight

     



    Good evening , I recently ran 93 octane in 11.5 to 1 compression oval track motor, seized a top ring ,broke top off of dish piston and bent 3 valves . So I can't find the right valves , what about puting different brand 10 gram heavier valves in there ?

    I would say it depends on the rpms you are turning.

    In a normal application I would imagine it would be fine.....

    As the rpm goes up and the time you spend at that rpm the more it matters.

    You mention circle track, so I imagine high rpms as the norm.....worst case scenario you might need more spring for those valves.

    I am no expert and there might be more to it than I know.....
    Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

    10 grams ? a valve thats a hell of a lot .i can get just about any size valve what heads are they brodix heads ? did you try ferrea valves ?

    they are dart iron eagle heads, but not dart valves the 2.02 intake valve has C-CH 1106 on the stem below the lock, exhaust has C-CH 1004 on it .the shop that built them for me closed up. PBM has the same number 1004 and 1106 but they are 11 grams heavier than my bent ones 109 gr new valves 120 gr.

    were the valve faces turned back?? about .020-.030 would be about that much weight on a 2 inch valve head

    the heads may have a Engine Pro valve in it like jerry said the valve face could be flat .some of the PeP valves are like that . i use alot of PBM valves i am going to get two sets in next week i look at them for weight. i have some new stuff laying around have to look at it for weight .i can tell you most all the stems start with that CH

    the old pbm valves are like dart valves there face is a fully cut on a angle from center of valve to the outer face of the valve . the new PBM s have just a dish in the center and the rest is flat i remember this now as i had some 1880 bbc 7 of one box and 1 that was just dished .i played hell with them to get me another valve like the other 7 so it just another supplier for them .i started using engine pros and they are a fully angle face valve like the old PBMs were and darts

    the valve faces are concave on the old ones ,new are flat about half inch from edge then angled to the center . I am running 220 lbs seat pressure on a TRW solid roller cam 6.00 lift . think it would hurt any thing to use the 3 heavy valves? I guess I could take them to a machine shop and have the faces cut back .

    yep i cut valves on my lathe i hold then in a 5c collet .may be less money to get a set of engine pros ? i know they not that much and they have the full angle cut across there face and not the dip in the center

    engine pro doesn't sell online ? i couldn't find a phone number or any thing on their web site .

    yep i am a dealer for them .most engine shops around you should sell you 3 valves you have to be a dealer .i am a dealer thru pbm but looks like they sell to the public
