Fred, if you are stuck on the 327, just hook up a 125 shot of juice to it. Done.

I do remember 103 octane at the local gas station. You could run a couple of different mock ups on your desk dyno and see what you come up with. And I did have a 327 as a kid with 11:1 - 2x4's- 292-302 dur. solid cam .512 lift and manual trans. Lots of fun. 4 miles to a gallon. lots of broken parts.
