    Regardless of who you talked to on the phone, the fact remains that with flat-top pistons and 64cc heads, a 383 will be over 11.0:1 static compression ratio. You cannot run that cam on 11.0:1. The motor will rattle like a can full of rocks from detonation and beat the pistons out of it.

    If you want to run the grind that the guy you know chose, then change either the heads or the pistons or both. You need between 9.5 and 10.5 to use it. I'd shoot for 10.0:1.

    yep that why you see the two cams i pick out for him much closer to the build with abit more CR . with the longer stroke the cr will go up should see what happens when you go over a 5.000 crank what that will do for CR.or like i said use your cam stuff i build works just fine but sounds like he wants to use wrong parts any way cam has not much DUR for a bigger engine with hi cr . oh yes it will rattle like teck said your going to have more CR with them heads

    Ok guess I'll go with the 76cc heads since I have not yet bought them. I am willing to change and listen to what other people have to say and I thank you two guys for your input. The last thing I want to do is build a motor just to have it blow up on me. I'm taking the motor to the machine shop tomarrow and I'm more than likely going to have them install the crank and the pistons so they can make sure it's in spec. Even thou I realy wanted to do it myself.

    also I already have this intake that was on the car. Would this work. It's an edelbrock I believe its a performer rpm not sure.

    How much do you think I can sell this carb for. 600cfm. It worked fine three weeks ago when i took it off.

    intake looks good should make plenty of power. i'd throw the carb on craigslist for $150-$200?
