VERY small SBC Harmonic balancer/pulley troubles

Glenn, I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do at this point... I have some very knowledgeable neighbors who are helping me along in this build. I'm waiting for one of them to come by either this evening or tomorrow, and tell me what I can/cannot do.
I want everybody to know that I am most appreciative of all the knowledge and info, given so freely on this board. There are other boards, you probably know the one(s) (has something to do with pork, shall we say 8-) ) where I probably would have been crucified for not being "traditional" in my engine choice... but to me, Hot Rodding is doing what you can, with what you got. I'm sure back in the old "traditional" days, thats all it was.. a farmers Model T, that the farmer paid you to take, a V8 Flathead out of a wrecked Mercury, and make it all work together, one way or another.

I'm done for a few days. I got a new balancer, rented the tool to install it, it all went well, pulleys were lining up, I was going to use the old balancer as a gauge to make the spacer, since the lip on the new one and old one are the same, and was putting it back together, when SNAP !! The Grade 8, 5 slashes on the bolt head, new, crank bolt SNAPPED. It's just below flush with the snout of the crank. I was just about done with the torque wrench, had it pretty damn snug, and was expecting to hear the "click" of the torque wrench any time, when everything went to hell.
I drained the compressor, put the tools away, and am going now to return the installer. It's time to walk away for a few days.

I guess the bright side is that I didn't Loctite the bolt, as I was originally going to do....:mad::mad::CRY::CRY::CRY::CRY:

Found some reverse drills, got the offending part out of the crank, with no damage that a 7/16-20 tap couldn't fix, made some little collars, or "crush sleeves", if you will) buttoned it back up, and just got back from the shakedown cruise. Rather than get all fancy at the shop with a piece of aluminum, I decided I was thinking about it too hard, and used a small piece of chromoly tubing, all three cut to the same exact length, held them on with a little wheel bearing grease, and put everything back together. I know, not too high-tech, but I have a tendency to overthink things sometimes....and I made the place that I got the new grade 8 bolt from, PROVE to me, the country of origin...
