Crate engines

HI, This is the first time building a Street Rod. My question is, Has anyone heard any bad things from Patriot Performance crate engines? Cant make up my mind on to go with one from there, or have a local builder do it for about $2500 more. Thanks

Have you compared GM Performance engines? I put a 350 290hp in the 41 and am extremely satisfied with the output. $1875.00 shipped free to my door step.

X2 on the gm crate motor, not as much power as the others but its a good price and some good heads and a good cam u can get the motor making lots of power.

I pulled my motor from a junkyard and built it up after the shop cleaned it up, bored it, etc. I spent about $2000 between parts and services - worked out great. I haven't gone the crate motor route yet...

I'm actually having them build a 496/505 hp engine right now ........ will arrive with dyno sheets in a few weeks. A friend of mine turned me on to them as he's purchased 2 SBC with good results ....... the one I've got coming is 1 yr. unl. mile warnty.

I tried GM first but ...... waited 7 weeks for a crate engine 502/502 delux (carb to pan) that was only going to take 3-5 days too arrive ...... never did.

Call Steve over at Patriot ..... tell'm Paul from Mark the Mover suggested a call. GM crates .... you'd figure a company in financial ruin would want to move product ......

Not an issue ..... the engine they are doing for me was not the off the shelf unit. They usually run them at 550 hp but because GM farted me around ...... I had already had Monster Trans. in Tampa build me a 700R4 to handle the 502HP so they detuned it via a cam change. I also wanted mine right off the dyno so I purchased carb, starter, wires & oil pan for a 90 ss 454 chev. 1500. They were more than eager to help. Even with shipping I was about 1000. cheaper than GM's stuff.

Oh ..... the 454 that's coming out of the truck ...... that's going into my "ratty 46" no less!!!
