406 combo for dad
I'm building a .030 over 400sb (509 casting. I was wondering if some of the well-versed experience might give their opinion on the combo I have selected. The block is at the shop and is due out this week. I have already purchased the rotating assy but I am waiting for some advise before I buy the heads and cam. Here it is:
Street/ Strip 1966 el camino( restored)
Rear- 8.2/ 10 bolt/ auburn posi/ 3:55...I know, this rear sucks!!!
trans- race prepped 350/ 2500 converter
Engine- 400- .030/ skim decked 2 bolt main
milodon main cap bolts
scat 9000 crank
scat 6 inch i beam 4340
JE forged piston dish
The camshaft i have chosen is a comp hyd roller pn-12-433-8/ 288XR
288/294 236/242 .520/.540 lsa 110
The heads I have chosen are Brodix IK 200/ 200cc 2.02/1.60 70cc chamber
Aluminum
weiand stealth intake
holley avenger 770 carb
the compression should be about 10.7 to 1 with a fel pro .041 gasket
My concerns are: is 200cc too large for this eng?
is the compression streetable?
I have desktop dyno but don't know how to determine the head flow on it.
I was going to buy the AFR 195 heads but the mom and pop speed shop here does not sell AFR...I try to give them as much business as I can.
They advised that they also sell patriot heads
Thanks for any help or opinions.
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
