Oil pouring out of spark plug hole...
Here's a good one for you guys....I just had a SBC...406...built by a local, well known engine builder. Scat crank, rods, J-E pistons (13 : 1), bowtie block, Dart heads, aggressive cam. Looking to go mid 9's in a Vega. I just installed the motor, added oil, dropped the distributor in, and the motor would not turn over......like it was binding. Removed all the plugs....had no idea what was going on.....oil poured out of #8 plug hole.....a lot of oil. Motor spins freely with plugs out. I know the motor turned well when the builder adjusted the valves......and I never turned it over, except to find TDC when installing the distributor. Even then...it barely needed to turn....not even an 8th of a rotation to find TDC. What's the deal? The motor builder said maybe I splashed oil into the #8 intake ports when I primed the motor....maybe...but I really don't think so. It makes sense, as that would be trapped in the combustion chamber, and not let the motor turn. Personally, I am thinking severely cracked or damaged head between the # 8 valves. Any thoughts are welcome.
