Opinions on cam please....

I got a "deal" on a comp cams # 294AR-6 solid roller cam, 264/268 dur @ .050 and .645..632 lift with a 106 ls and comp roller lifters. It came out of a late model sbc 355 which I was also in the process of building myself. I have SPC 13:1 forged pistons and forged Eagle rods and World Sportsman 2 heads with the proper springs for the setup. I want to get my 71 'velle into the 11's and thought this may do it. The car is only driven on the street occaisionally and some strip runs. It has 3.73 rear gears with a TCI Street Fighter 3000 converter. Mostly just a fun warrior toy. Give me opionions on this setup please.

Sounds like a real thumper of a cam....What kind of induction?? You may need more gear.. There are guys here that know more than I do about it..

What about carb, ignition, transmission, and header size???? If street and highway cruizin' isn't a consideration, put some 4.11's or 4.56's with a spool in the back. Put the car on a serious diet, and get the weight down around 2800 with the driver in it. Oh yeah, a little inch engine with all that cam and compression is going to need to rev around 7000 rpm to make any decent horsepower, make sure the engine is balanced and clearanced very, very well to live at high revs.....

without running the numbers I'm sure you'll need a lot more gear and converter.... Maybe 4500 stall and 4.11 to 4.56 depending how big a tire you run... A lot more ci or a lot less cam to work with the rest...

You Need to Check that Piston to Valve Clearance Real Good . I think it's maybe to much Lift on the 645" Side ? And if that 645" is on the Intake Side Don't Spray it .
